SANTO DOMINGO. The Judo Naco Club won first place in the 2025 Judo Naco International Cup, which was held with resounding success at the Tony Barreiro Sports Center, at the Autonomous University of Santo during the weekend.

The host team accumulated a total of 1,544 points, resulting from 14 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals, totaling 41, to establish themselves as the absolute champion of the event. It is recalled that Naco also won the contest in the year 2024. The club's Board of Directors, led by the immortal of Sport, the immortal of Sport, Mario Alvarez Soto, sent a congratulatory message to the Naco delegation (athletes, coaches, leaders, Parents' Association) that participated in the event, raising the name of the organization and the country. The second place went to the Judo Association of Monte Plata, which obtained 8 gold medals, two silver medals and 12 bronze medals, totaling 832 points. The third place went to the Judo Association of San Juan de la Maguana, with seven golds, three silvers, and five bronzes, totaling 735 points. The Naco Judo International Cup 2025 registered a historic participation of 654 athletes from seven countries: United States, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, and Paraguay. Also, athletes from 14 national associations and 12 clubs from the National District attended, making that edition the largest judo competition and of very high competitive quality ever held in the Dominican Republic. This achievement reaffirms the international projection of the event, which year after year consolidates its prestige within the regional sports calendar. "The entire Judo Naco family feels deeply proud and satisfied with the performance of its athletes and coaches, who, with effort, discipline and passion, once again elevated the name of the Naco Sports Club and that of the Dominican Republic," said the sensei, Juan Chalas, technical director. He commented that the Parents' Association, who organized the event, was highly grateful for all the support provided by the Board of Directors, the Federation, each parent, each coach, and the event sponsors who, once again, showed their support.
