Sports writing, June 8 (EFE).- Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé put France on the path to victory against Germany (0-2) in the match for third place in the Nations League by scoring the first of the two goals and raising his personal tally to 50 with the 'bleu' squad, with which he has played ninety times.

Mbappé is approaching the historical records of the best goalscorers with France. The Real Madrid player is only one goal away from Thierry Henry, who ended his career with the national team with 51, and seven away from Olivier Giroud, the top scorer for the French team, with 57.

The captain of the French national team, who debuted on March 25, 2017 against Luxembourg with a 1-3 victory, is the player who has needed the fewest matches with the 'bleu' team to reach half a hundred goals. He has achieved it in 90, while Henry needed 113 and Giroud 115.

Kylian Mbappe, in his 90 matches, 76 as a starter, has accumulated 50 goals and 36 assists and raises to 44 the goals scored this season, between those obtained with the national team and with Real Madrid, with which he has been proclaimed top scorer of LaLiga and has won the Golden Boot.

The white team's attacker has taken advantage of the Nations League to end a significant drought. He scored against Spain last Thursday and this Sunday against Germany. Kylian Mbappe hadn't scored for France since June 25, 2024, in the final phase of the European Championship against Poland.

Mbappé scored his first goal for France on August 31, 2017, in the match they won against the Netherlands 4-0, a World Cup qualifier. He replaced, precisely, Olivier Giroud.
