Paris, (EFE).— The Paris Labor Court condemned this Tuesday the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to pay the salary arrears owed to the French striker Kylian Mbappé, although it rejected the rest of the claims filed by the player, which exceeded 260 million euros.

The ruling obliges the Parisian club to pay around 55 million euros corresponding to outstanding salaries and bonuses, to which unpaid vacation time is added, raising the total figure to 61 million, according to the calculation of the player's lawyers. The court also decreed the provisional execution of the ruling, so PSG must make the payment even if it decides to appeal the sentence, a possibility that the club did not rule out. In a statement sent to the media after the resolution was announced, PSG assured that it will comply with the judicial decision and that "reserves the right to appeal". It also defended that "it has always acted in good faith and with integrity" and stated that, from now on, the club looks to the future "based on unity and collective success", wishing Mbappé "the best for the rest of his career". The court dismissed all of PSG's claims, which amounted to 450 million euros, with which the club accused the footballer of disloyal behavior for knowing his intention to leave the entity after the 2023-2024 season without formally communicating it. Player Environment Satisfaction Mbappé's lawyers were satisfied with the ruling, although the amount recognized is less than initially requested. «We have been claiming the payment of the salaries owed to him for 18 months and that is exactly what we have achieved», declared his lawyer Delphine Verheyden upon leaving the court, who recalled that PSG had previously minimized the rulings in favor of the player issued by the sports justice system. For her part, the also learned Frédérique Cassereau called the sentence «historic» and considered that it would be «elegant» on the part of the club not to appeal it, understanding that it reinforces the rights of footballers against sports entities.Origin of the litigation
The legal dispute began after Mbappé's departure from PSG to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, when the forward arrived as a free agent after his contract ended. The club chaired by Nasser Al Khelaifi stopped paying the last three months of salary, considering that there was a verbal agreement by which the player renounced those amounts after communicating that he would not execute the third optional year of his contract, which extended until 2026. Mbappé has denied the validity of that agreement by maintaining that it was never officially registered and that no specific figures were agreed upon, arguments that were ultimately supported by the labor court.
