Abinader oversees progress of the tunnel in Plaza de la Bandera

Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader made a supervisory visit on Tuesday night to the underground tunnel under construction under the Plaza de la Bandera, located at the intersection of Gregorio Luperón and 27 de Febrero avenues, with the aim of further improving and developing the road system. This work is part of a comprehensive plan of road solutions for Greater Santo Domingo, which will allow a continuous flow in the north-south direction along Luperón Avenue, eliminating one of the points of greatest vehicular congestion in the capital.

While pronouncing some words, the Head of State informed that the Government continues to monitor and make progress on important road infrastructure works, including the inauguration scheduled for this Friday of the Ecológica Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez avenue, which will become the second entrance from the east towards Santo Domingo, with the aim of improving vehicular flow towards the capital.

He also reported that the Santiago monorail is in an advanced phase. The tunnel, with an approximate length of 1.02 kilometers and two lanes in each direction, represents a significant advance in urban mobility, benefiting hundreds of thousands of drivers who travel daily through this critical area.
