Amero Exchange actively participated in the Hackathon of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, an initiative that seeks to promote innovative solutions that transform remittances into engines of economic and social development.
The event is also backed by the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), a global organization that promotes financial inclusion through blockchain technology, and with the support of the Dominican-Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce, which facilitated business participation and binational exchange in this space of innovation.
During the meeting, Amero Exchange presented its proposal for a community platform based on blockchain and smart contracts, designed to allow rural communities and small businesses in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic to organize into groups, co-finance circular economy projects, and transparently manage the resources contributed. This model combines the functionalities of digital remittances, tokenization of participation, and decentralized governance mechanisms, generating trust and reducing barriers to access to financing.

The Amero proposal aligns with UNDP's strategic priorities in Guatemala, particularly in the areas of financial inclusion, digital transformation, reduction of territorial inequalities, and strengthening of local governance. It also reinforces the vision of the Stellar Foundation, which promotes the use of digital assets and stablecoins like USDC to guarantee fast, secure, and low-cost transactions, boosting the adoption of financial solutions in traditionally excluded communities. The hackathon is also framed within the objectives of the United Nations Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and in the efforts of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) through its Financing Facility for Remittances (FFR), which promotes financial inclusion, education and entrepreneurship initiatives for migrants and their families. With this participation, Amero Exchange reaffirms its regional leadership in financial innovation applied to development and its commitment to accompany the countries of the Northern Triangle and the Caribbean in building solutions that convert remittances into opportunities for sustainable progress."Our goal is to transform remittances into a tool for collective progress. Thanks to the support of UNDP and the Stellar Foundation, we can bring to communities a model that combines financial innovation, transparency, and sustainable development," said Rafael Osiris Rodríguez, CEO and co-founder of Amero Exchange.
