Santo Domingo. - Banco BHD awarded five Dominican women entrepreneurs in two categories and an honorable mention, in the first edition of the BHD Business Woman Recognition.
The award winners in the Small Business category were: Ingrid Bethel Reyes Núñez, owner of Mercería La Reyna in Santiago, and Rosa Martina Jiménez Hernández, director of Colegio Nubeluz in La Vega.
In the Medium Enterprise category, the following were recognized: Dewi Rachelle Peña Troncoso, creator and manager of the hair products, Deya by DewiPeña, and Kalys Bienvenida Bautista, founder and president of Kaba Consulting, an insurance brokerage firm.
In the honorary mention, the distinction was awarded to Mercedes Canalda de Beras-Goico, executive president of Banco de Ahorro y Crédito (ADOPEM), a Dominican leader in the field of microfinance and financial inclusion.
Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD, expressed that "The leadership and great values of these women are an example for other businesswomen who are committed to the growth of their projects. The Mujer Negocios BHD Recognition is an initiative through which we distinguish the trajectory of our leading clients of small and medium-sized businesses," expressed Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD.
The monetary prize was RD$ 500,000.00 for each winner. In addition, they were awarded: a recognition plaque, mentoring with BHD experts, and potential strategic alliances with business support institutions.
Josefina González, Executive Vice President of Retail and Business Banking at Banco BHD, explained that "each awardee has a story of overcoming challenges, a great career, and, above all, makes an important social, educational and economic contribution in their communities. We want to continue being that helping hand that applauds, motivates and encourages them."
During the recognition event, the entity held a conference on female leadership led by Rosanna Ruiz, executive president of the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic.
