Banreservas recognizes Giovanny Cruz for his career and contributions to the Dominican scene

The tribute, held at the Banreservas Cultural Center, marks one of the most significant moments of the closing of the Fifth Season of Banreservas Theater, highlighting a career that has decisively influenced the evolution of Dominican theater.

Santo Domingo.– The Reserve Bank of the Dominican Republic honored Giovanny Cruz with a tribute for his career and his sustained contribution to the development of theater in the Dominican Republic, in an act that highlighted the value of those who have marked the course of the national scene.

The recognition, held at the Banreservas Cultural Center, became one of the most significant moments of the closing of the Fifth Season of Banreservas Theater, evidencing the institution's commitment to strengthening scenic creation. Throughout his career, Cruz has built a solid body of work that dialogues with the identity, memory, and social dynamics of the country, establishing himself as a key figure within the Dominican theatrical landscape. "Recognizing trajectories like Giovanny Cruz's is a way of making national culture and talent visible. For Banreservas, art and culture are fundamental pillars of development, and this season responds to a vision that promotes spaces where creation is projected, access is expanded, and Dominican theater finds new forms of connection," expressed Franklin Soriano, Vice President of Communications and Social Responsibility of Banreservas.

On his part, the artistic producer and creator of the project, Guillermo Cordero, highlighted the value of these initiatives to make visible the sustained work of the stage creators, pointing out that this recognition not only celebrates a career, but also projects key references for the new generations linked to dramatic art. "This recognition highlights a lifetime of work dedicated to the theater. Beyond celebrating a career, it projects fundamental references in the construction of the national scene, which continue to pave the way for new generations," he indicated. During this edition, the Banreservas Theater Season developed a diverse agenda that connected with different audiences and extended its reach beyond Santo Domingo, integrating the Banreservas Cultural Center in Santiago as an active part of the project. This expansion responds to a vision aimed at decentralizing access to culture and strengthening the bond with communities in different locations. The curatorship gathered proposals that addressed historical memory, contemporary issues, family theater, comedy, and new explorations of scenic language, consolidating this cycle as a key space for the exhibition and projection of contemporary Dominican theater. With this recognition, the Banreservas Theater Season reaffirms its commitment to accompany, value, and project local talent, contributing to a more solid, inclusive, and sustainable cultural ecosystem in the Dominican Republic.
