Santo Domingo.- The pre-candidate for president of the Dominican Liberation Party, Francisco Javier García, asked the government of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) to urgently address the demands of the country's nursing staff. The political leader supported the claims made by the National Nursing Workers Union (Sinatrae), the National Nursing Association (Asonaen) and the National Union of Nursing Services, organizations that stopped work in public health centers demanding labor and salary improvements. Among the main demands are salary leveling, reclassifications, distance incentives, full pensions for nurses with more than 30 years of service, and new appointments.

Francisco Javier affirmed that the demands are fair, especially those related to the pensions of aging nurses affected by serious illnesses. "The authorities must address these demands as soon as possible," said the member of the PLD Political Committee. Likewise, he criticized that many professionals are pensioned with amounts between RD$15,000 and RD$20,000, despite decades of service. The presidential candidate asserted that nursing staff have been in dialogue with the Government for more than six years without obtaining concrete answers and maintained that one cannot speak of progress in health while the sector remains abandoned.
