Maimón, Monseñor Nouel.— After several days of anguish and intense search efforts, the young Haitian Jhon Kade, 22 years old, who had been reported missing since last Sunday in the waters of the Yuna River, was found dead.

From the moment of his disappearance, local authorities deployed a wide search operation in the river, the Maimón dam, and surrounding areas. The actions were coordinated by the provincial director of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Velázquez, along with Colonel Wellington Martínez, mayor of the Maimón Fire Department, who led a rescue team that worked continuously. The discovery of the body occurred near the bridge over the Yuna River, in the municipality of Maimón, specifically on the road leading to the community of Caballero, an area bordering Cotuí. The news has caused deep consternation among family, friends, and residents of the area.

Jean Gesner, the victim's older brother, expressed the pain that overwhelms the family after the tragic loss. "There are no words to describe what we are feeling. Jhon was a good son and a loving father," he stated with evident sorrow. The young man leaves two children orphaned. Following the lifting of the body, members of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) transferred it to the city of Santiago, where the corresponding studies will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities reported that investigations continue to clarify the circumstances in which the event occurred, while the community remains supportive of the family members during this difficult time.
This unfortunate event highlights the importance of reinforcing safety measures in areas near rivers and dams, as well as the need to create greater awareness of the risks associated with these environments. Meanwhile, the community of Hato Viejo remains in mourning, remembering Jhon Kade as a young, hardworking man, full of dreams and aspirations, whose departure leaves a deep void.
