International Sculptor Day

On March 6th, we pay tribute to one of the artistic trades of greatest relevance to art. It is the International Sculptor's Day. This aims to highlight these magnificent creators of artistic works around the world.

Why is Sculptor's Day celebrated?

This date was created to commemorate the birth of the Italian sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti. He was a sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Rome. He carried out numerous architectural projects. His most emblematic sculpture is David, which is exhibited in Florence, Italy.

Other works by this great sculptor are as follows: Virgin of the Staircase, The Bacchus with a Satyr, The Pietà of St. Peter's Basilica, Angel of the Basilica of Santo Domingo in Bologna, The Christ of La Minerva.

  • The most used materials for making sculptures are marble, onyx, quarry stone, bronze, wood, and clay.
