Ministry of Labor suggests telecommuting and flexible hours due to rain

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Labor recommended to flexibilize the work day and apply telecommuting in the provinces under alert, as a preventive measure against the rains affecting a large part of the country. The provision covers 26 provinces on yellow alert and two on green alert, where conditions remain conducive to flooding, rising rivers, streams and ravines, as well as possible landslides, according to the COE. In that context, the entity urged employers to reorganize their schedules and facilitate remote work where possible, with the aim of reducing risks for workers. Likewise, he indicated that the absences or delays of those who face difficulties in getting to their workplaces due to weather conditions should be considered justified.

The Ministry reiterated that these measures seek to protect the safety and lives of employees, without affecting their labor rights, and urged the population to follow the guidelines of the authorities.
