Santo Domingo. - The general director of Community Development (DGDC), doctor Modesto Guzmán, formally handed over a fully rebuilt and furnished single-family home to a woman residing in the community of Altos de Monte Rey in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province, this on the occasion of this Tuesday completing the first year of management.
During the handover of keys to Mrs. Juana Astacio, Dr. Modesto Guzmán highlighted the importance of guaranteeing access to decent housing as a fundamental right, and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to the well-being of the most vulnerable communities.
"We continue to comply with the instructions of President Luis Abinader. Today we not only deliver a home, but also hope, dignity and an opportunity for this lady to start a new stage with better living conditions," said the general director of the DGDC.
The work, channeled through the institution's Infrastructure and Social Assistance Departments, was designed to offer adequate conditions of habitability, safety, and comfort.
In addition to its new structure, it has complete furniture, including beds, refrigerator, stove, table, chairs, and basic utensils.
The beneficiary, 83 years old, who had coffee with Dr. Guzmán, visibly moved, deeply thanked the support received.
"I can't believe I have my house, thanks to God first, to President Luis Abinader and to Mr. Modesto Guzmán for fulfilling my dream," said Mrs. Astacio.
We recall that this type of action is part of the comprehensive projects promoted by the General Directorate of Community Development, whose objective is to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable sectors of the country.
