Santo Domingo, RD.– The Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic requested a court to impose one year of preventive detention as a coercive measure against three men involved in the death of another, which occurred on March 8 in the Muñoz sector, in the municipality of San Felipe, in the province of Puerto Plata.
The defendants, Danny Miguel Tejada Pérez (Don or El Flaco), Helmes Daniel López (Curru) and Jemine Díaz Puma, were brought to justice after the accusing body gathered various evidence linking them to the death by gunshot wounds of Ignacio Minaya (Cecilio). According to the investigation, the accused, along with a person still at large, broke into the victim's home armed, forcibly removed him, and shot him multiple times, before throwing his body into a river. The legal medical examination and the autopsy performed by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) confirmed that the cause of death was from firearm projectiles, constituting a violent homicide. During the operations, authorities seized a red Honda CR-V vehicle linked to the scene, as well as illegal firearms and controlled substances. The accused were arrested through judicial orders and remain in the custody of the Public Ministry. Prosecutors Julio César Gómez Quintana and Carmen Daynisa Rosario Pascual filed the request for coercive measures before the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Puerto Plata, also requesting that the case be declared complex. The provisional legal qualification includes violations of articles 265, 266, 295, 296, 297, 298 and 302 of the Dominican Penal Code, relating to criminal association and murder, as well as Law 631-16 on weapons. Judge Romaldy Marcelino Henríquez postponed the hearing until April 16, 2026, after accepting a request from the defense. In other news, the defendant Danny Miguel Tejada Pérez also faces a judicial process for alleged links to the sale, distribution, and storage of drugs, a case that is in the preliminary stage. According to the record, on September 27, 2025, in conjunction with the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), a search was carried out in a house located in the Atlántica urbanization, where 225 portions of marijuana were seized, weighing 227.98 grams, in addition to cash, cell phones, personal documents, gold jewelry and a Mercedes Benz vehicle, model A Class 220 AWD, year 2019.
