Santo Domingo.– The
Public Ministry requested preventive detention as a coercive measure against a man accused of physically and verbally assaulting a driver of the
Ministry of Education's Student Transportation (
TRAE), in an incident that occurred on May 21 in El Café de Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste.
The defendant, Gregrori Gelabert González, faces charges for allegedly assaulting the driver Henry Yubane Arias González, who provides services for School District 15-05.
According to the instance presented by prosecutor Anyelina Vicioso, the incident occurred around 7:30 in the morning, while the driver was transporting several students. According to the record, after a scrape between vehicles, Gelabert González initiated a discussion with Arias González and subsequently hit him in the face, causing him several injuries.
The document also indicates that the defendant would have assaulted Ybianca Yinet Castillo, the driver's assistant, after she complained about what happened, as well as Wilkins Emergido, who tried to record the assault with his cell phone.
Furthermore, the Public Ministry indicated that three teenage students who were inside the bus panicked and got off the vehicle after witnessing the altercation.
Authorities reported that the actions attributed to the defendant were recorded by the surveillance cameras installed on the bus. The recordings will be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) for analysis and subsequent incorporation as evidence in the judicial process.
The hearing for the knowledge of the coercive measure was scheduled for this Monday at noon. The Public Ministry will request preventive detention against Gelabert González under the provisional legal qualification of violation of article 309 of the Dominican Penal Code and article 396 of Law 136-03, on Protection and Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents.
