Netflix increases its net profit by 26% in 2025, to $10.981 billion

Los Angeles.- Entertainment giant Netflix reported this Tuesday that it increased its net profit by 26.05% in 2025, reaching $10.981 billion, driven by the increase in memberships and higher advertising revenue. The company exceeded all financial targets set for 2025, with a 18% year-on-year increase in revenue in the fourth quarter, while working to close the merger agreement with Warner Bros.-Discovery. The company recorded a solid performance, with revenues of $45.183 billion in annual billing, 16% more than in 2024, a financial boost that was accompanied by an expansion in its user base, which already exceeds 325 million subscribers. The company indicates that the annual operating margin rose to 29.5% from 26.7% in 2024. In figures, the annual operating result increased from 10,418 million in 2024 to 13,327 million in 2025.

New Seasons as Part of Netflix's Strategy

The 9% surge in original content viewing during the second half of 2025 was achieved thanks to a diverse and high-impact lineup, such as the final season of 'Stranger Things', with 120 million views, or the fifth season of 'Emily in Paris', with 41 million. Also, the October premiere of 'Frankenstein', by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, contributed 102 million views on the online content platform. Netflix expects to "maintain solid growth" for the next fiscal year, with revenues between $50.7 billion and $51.7 billion (an increase of up to 14%), as well as "an expectation that advertising profits will practically double and an operating margin of 31.5%", it indicated in a statement.

These favorable results occur in the context of the fight to merge with Warner Bros.-Discovery, an agreement that Netflix improved this Tuesday by indicating that it will pay the $83 billion for the company, excluding debt, in cash. Previously, Netflix had offered that figure in a combination of cash and shares. This transfer unleashed a wave of criticism, in addition to the reaction of rival Paramount, which launched a hostile bid (OPA) on December 8 for a value of 108.4 billion dollars.
