Raíces Art and Culture Foundation holds the "Abad" award, to recognize outstanding women

Santo Domingo.– In the framework of its tenth anniversary, the Arte y Cultura Raíces Foundation (FACRAICES) presented the "Abad" award to ten women recognized for their contributions to the arts and cultural management in the Dominican Republic. This recognition is part of the institution's mission to honor figures who have contributed to the cultural, educational, and democratic development of the country. The award winners of this edition are Lidia Ariza, Purísima de León, Zomeida de la Cruz, Julia Catillo, Bárbara Suncar, Amelia Cordero, Marianne de Tolentino, Bernarda Jorge, Patricia Pereyra and Xiomara Domínguez, all with notable careers in various artistic and cultural promotion areas. During these ten years, FACRAICES has promoted the legacy of more than sixty women in the cultural field, including deceased artists such as Rosa Tavárez, Catana Pérez and Josefina Pimentel, and others still active such as Elsa Núñez, Tati Olmo and Lucía Castillo. The foundation, chaired by cultural promoter Ana María Henríquez Herrera, reiterated its commitment to values-based education through the arts, the preservation of historical memory, and the promotion of a more just, equitable, and inclusive society. FACRAICES also celebrates a decade since the opening of Abad Gallery, a cultural space where artists from different disciplines, both national and international, converge, and which has become a benchmark for artistic expression and cultural dialogue.
