Young man loses his life and DICRIM agent is injured in incident in Monte Plata

Monte Plata.– A young man identified as Mauricio Fermín (“Mao”), 25 years old, died after being injured, while an agent of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM), whose identity has not been revealed, remains injured after an incident recorded on the night of this Friday near the Chong neighborhood, in the municipality of Monte Plata. According to preliminary information, both were injured during an event that is still under investigation by the authorities. So far, no official details have been offered about the circumstances in which the incident occurred. Mauricio Fermín was transferred to the Dr. Ángel Contreras Provincial Hospital in Monte Plata, where his death was later confirmed. Meanwhile, the injured police officer was taken to a health center in Santo Domingo, where he is receiving medical attention.

At the close of this information, the entrance to the emergency area of the Dr. Ángel Contreras Provincial Hospital remained cordoned off by a large police contingent. Around the health center there was a large number of people, mainly young people, as well as family and friends of Mauricio Fermín, who were waiting for information about the case and expressing their concern and indignation at what had happened.
