Santo Domingo. - For his merits and contributions in worthily representing the country in the United States as a young Dominican abroad, the Presidency of the Dominican Republic recognized mathematician and cryptographer Juan Luis Vargas Molina as a finalist for the 2026 National Youth Award (PNJ2026).

During a ceremony at the Dominican Consulate in New York, United States, the creator of the cryptocurrency and digital platform FACTOR, for which he obtained a prize of 100 thousand dollars from Coinbase, received an official parchment from the hands of Consul Jesús Antonio (Chú) Vásquez Martínez and Carlos Valdez Matos, Minister of Youth.

Upon accepting the award, Vargas Molina reaffirmed the commitment to "contribute to raising the gaze towards a knowledge economy, where excellence in mathematics, education, and technology is not a privilege, but a national route with the vision and leadership essential to cultivate the talents we already have, inside and outside the country. To transform Dominican society, there are resources and talents abound."

Creator of advanced technological solutions, such as the MuchPir private information removal system; and representative of the Dominican Republic in the recent international forum CyberWeek@LAC4 2025, the Computer Science specialist is running an outreach campaign to encourage young people in the Dominican Republic and Latin America to take an interest in mathematics.

“What is this discipline for? In the 21st century, one of its most important and least visible applications is national security and cybersecurity: protecting data, critical infrastructure, transactions, and trust in a modern nation. Areas in incipient development in the DR: cryptography, cyberdefense, risk analysis, systems protection, and digital sovereignty.

Yes, because today sovereignty is also digital. And it is defended with education, science and mathematics," he underlined. The PNJ2026, organized by the National Ministry of Youth, is the greatest recognition granted by the Dominican State to outstanding young Dominicans in various fields. It rewards their leadership, social commitment, innovation and contribution to the development of the country.

"Each generation writes its own history and Dominican youth has demonstrated, time and again, that talent, passion, and commitment can move mountains. The National Youth Award celebrates those young people who, with their effort and determination, inspire others to dream big, to believe that anything is possible, and to work for a better country," the institution states.

The award winners, he adds, "are leaders, innovators, volunteers, artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs who demonstrate that age is not a limit, but an opportunity to make a difference."
