Santo Domingo. – The general director of RD Vial, Hostos Rizik, announced the implementation of a solar lighting program on the main highways of the country, including the 6 de Noviembre highway, the Las Américas highway, the Santo Domingo bypass and sections of the northeast and east.
Rizik explained that this initiative seeks to improve road safety, reduce accidents, and ensure greater use of the newly built public infrastructure.
"We are replacing more than 1,800 lamps with a solar energy system that ensures better operation and greater efficiency," he detailed.
The official added that the plan is complemented by the installation of cat's eyes on all trunk roads, as well as road assistance patrols, ambulances, mobile workshops and cranes from the Military and Police Commission.
Regarding the Santo Domingo bypass, it was noted that, although it was delivered with high standards of horizontal and vertical signage, some details were corrected on elevated sections and the road is currently operating in optimal conditions.
"We want the country's roads to not only be modern, but also to be kept clean and safe. That is why we also call on citizens to take care of the infrastructures that have been built with so much effort," Rizik expressed.
