Santo Domingo. – The initiative promoted by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to move towards the regulation of the use of mobile devices in educational centers has received broad support from teachers, directors, students, mothers and fathers, who agree on the need to promote a more pedagogical, responsible and balanced use of technology in the classrooms. The approach has generated a favorable response in different sectors of the education system and in families, showing a growing consensus on the importance of regulating and guiding the use of technology in the school environment. The results of inquiries and studies conducted by the Ministry of Education and other entities reflect a general willingness to adopt measures that strengthen the pedagogical use of devices, without limiting their potential as a learning tool, with the support of mothers and fathers.

The consultations remain open so that teachers, principals, students, and families can express their opinions and contribute to the strengthening of the proposal, which was presented to the National Education Council, the body in charge of defining the policies of the pre-university public system. Among the answers collected, students have identified risks of the inappropriate use of cell phones, such as distractions, attention problems, cyberbullying, and access to inappropriate content, while proposing measures such as establishing usage schedules, restricting them in the classroom, and reinforcing supervision, with the participation of families.

In this context, the regulation of cell phone use is seen not as a restriction, but as a measure to organize the educational digital environment, strengthen the teaching work, and ensure that technology effectively contributes to learning. The Ministry of Education's proposal is part of a broader strategy to transform the education system, aimed at integrating technology in a planned manner, reducing gaps, and improving educational quality with the participation of the entire school community. With this process, the country is moving towards an educational model in which technology is used intentionally, responsibly and aligned with learning objectives, with the active support of families.
