Rosa NG asks the president to "tone down" the attacks on Chinese entrepreneurs

Businesswoman and representative of the Chinese community in the country, Rosa NG, asked President Luis Abinader to "tone down" the attacks and discrediting campaigns that, according to her denouncement, have been affecting Chinese-origin entrepreneurs and merchants who for decades have contributed to the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic. During a recent interview on the program Casi Personal with Graymer Méndez, broadcast on Saturdays at 7:00 pm on VTV Channel 32, Rosa NG expressed that the Chinese community feels hit and stigmatized by discourses and actions that question the legality or origin of their businesses, without taking into account the productive and supportive role they have historically played in the country. Rosa NG de Báez, also founder of the Chinatown and president of the Flor para Todos Foundation, recalled her friendship with the late José Rafael Abinader, whom she described as "a very careful, kind and much loved person", convinced that, if he were alive, "he would have done something to prevent us from reaching the extremes that have been reached".

"I took him and his son, Luis Abinader, both of them to China in 2010, that's where the idea of building a China House came from," NG recalled, highlighting the interest and admiration that the deceased academic and politician always showed towards Chinese culture.

NG, recognized for its long history in international cooperation and its link with the Chinese community in the country, when referring to the current president, Luis Abinader, insisted that the attitude towards Chinese companies should be reviewed: "We must tone down the attacks on Chinese companies," he reiterated, underlining the importance of preserving harmony. You can also read: The businesswoman defended the policy of rapprochement with China assumed during the government of Danilo Medina, assuring that it was a "fair and correct" decision, and that "if he had not done it, Leonel should have done it or perhaps this same government." In her analysis, "the world is no longer a unipolar world... China preaches a world of harmony, not a world of war or conflict." NG called for reflection on national sovereignty and the diplomatic balance that the country must maintain. "The Dominican Republic must think very carefully, because we are a sovereign country, and the Chinese are as important as the Americans," he said. The representative concluded by reiterating her call for dialogue and recognition of the value of Chinese merchants and entrepreneurs as allies of Dominican progress.
