Santiago.- The governor of the province of Santiago de los Caballeros, Rosa Santos, led this Tuesday a wide social assistance day in which more than 100 people were benefited with appliances, food, construction materials and medical aid, as part of the activities carried out prior to the celebration of Mother's Day.
During the event, the representative of the Executive Branch explained that the initiative is part of the continuity of the social assistance programs developed by the Governorate in different territories of the province, addressing requests from low-income families and people in vulnerable conditions.
"We wanted to take advantage of this special date to provide aid to the most vulnerable mothers, the oldest, and those with the greatest needs. Today we are responding to approximately more than 100 people," Santos expressed.
The official indicated that the requests received by the Governorate include construction materials, medical studies, medications, layettes for pregnant women, and food assistance, so the institution seeks to respond by prioritizing the most urgent cases.

Among the aid delivered are fans, gas cylinders, stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, cookware sets, bedspreads, beds, mosquito nets, baby baskets, purchase orders for construction materials, and checks to cover medical expenses. Santos also reported that the social days will continue in different communities of the province and announced that this week they will carry out new operations, including one of great magnitude and another in the municipality of Baitoa, with which they would close the calendar of activities corresponding to the month of May. Beneficiaries thanked President Luis Abinader and Governor Rosa Santos for the aid received, assuring that it represents relief for low-income families. "This will be of great help to our community and to many mothers who really need these utensils. We are grateful because although not all were benefited, many families will be able to feel happy with these deliveries," expressed Rosa Silverio, one of the community members present at the activity.
