Santo Domingo.– Senators from various blocs applauded President Luis Abinader's decision to declare the Cartel de los Soles a terrorist organization through decree 500-25.
In that sense, the senator from La Vega, Ramón Rogelio Genao, supported the president's initiative, highlighting that it is essential to decisively confront drug trafficking.
In the same vein, Senator Santiago Zorrilla, representative of El Seibo, maintained that any organization that practices terrorism should be considered as such."It is necessary to dismantle this organization. This fight is not exclusive to a single country, but to all, because even if we are not big consumers, we are bridges and, unfortunately, victims of this scourge," expressed Genao.
This measure is taken a few weeks after the United States Department of the Treasury, during the Donald Trump administration, classified the Cartel of the Suns in the same way."Any organization dedicated to terrorism is, by definition, terrorist," Zorrilla stated.
