Santo Domingo. - According to the Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (INDOMET), this Saturday morning, a clear and hot environment will remain in most of the country, while in the afternoon, the trough will continue generating favorable conditions for the rains to continue, combining its effects with those associated with the diurnal cycle, with significant cloudiness expected accompanied by heavy showers, electrical storms and wind gusts in towns in the northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest, Central mountain range and the border area, that is, the provinces: El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, Samaná, Espaillat, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia, Bahoruco and El Gran Santo Domingo.

On Sunday, a tropical wave will be moving over the national territory, combining its effects with those of the trough aloft, with the expectation that during the afternoon, until the early hours of the night, significant cloud cover will be generated, which will be accompanied by heavy showers at times, thunderstorms and possible wind gusts towards towns in the provinces: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elias Piña, Independencia, Bahoruco and El Gran Santo Domingo.

The temperature will remain very high, due to the time of year (summer) and the warm and humid wind from the east/southeast. It is important that the population continues to hydrate adequately with liquids, (preferably water), wear light-colored clothing, seek cool and ventilated places, avoid periods of greater sun exposure without proper sun protection during the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In addition, keep in mind that children and the elderly are more susceptible to suffering the effects of these high temperatures.

Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:

A tropical wave is being monitored and is forecast over the west coast of Africa in the coming days. Over the weekend and at the beginning of next week, environmental conditions could favor a gradual development of this system. In the next 48 hours, it has a very low probability of reaching the tropical cyclone category, however, in the next 7 days, a 40%. Temperatures: the minimum will be between 22 °C and 24 °C and the maximum between 33 °C and 35 °C.

Summary: Cloudy in the afternoon accompanied by heavy showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts that will be present until the early hours of the night. Tomorrow, a tropical wave will maintain the probability of heavy rains in several provinces. An active tropical wave over the Atlantic with some cyclonic potential is being monitored. Temperatures will continue to be quite hot.

On Monday, the tropical wave will be moving away from the country, while the moisture content is slightly limited, even so, favorable conditions will remain for the showers to continue, they will be of lower intensity and frequency than in previous days, but could still be strong in isolated points and will be observed towards the provinces: El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Santiago, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Elias Piña, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, San Cristóbal and El Gran Santo Domingo.
