A Southwest Airlines flight covering the route between Nashville and Fort Lauderdale was diverted to Atlanta after a suspected bomb threat was reported on board the aircraft, which activated a large security operation.
The incident occurred with flight 2094, which was carrying more than 140 passengers. The crew notified the authorities about a security alert during the flight, which forced the plane to make an emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport around 9:06 p.m..
After landing, police units and federal agents boarded the plane to inspect the aircraft and passengers' luggage. During the operation, a passenger was removed from the plane by the authorities for questioning while the corresponding inspections were carried out.
Videos recorded by passengers and shared on social media showed moments of tension inside the plane, where some travelers were instructed to keep their hands up while the authorities intervened in the situation.
