The subway will be free this Sunday to celebrate the incorporation of three more trains

Santo Domingo. – The Office for Transportation Reordering (OPRET) informs the citizenry that this Sunday, August 10, an institutional act will be held on the occasion of the official launch of the new six-car trains of the Santo Domingo Metro and the inauguration of the new L1-L2 pedestrian interconnection tunnel, with the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.

The incorporation of six-car trains, initially on Line 1, starting Monday, August 11, will allow a substantial increase in the number of users, which will impact the reduction of lines.

In addition, the commissioning of the interconnection tunnel, located at the Juan Pablo Duarte station, will improve the passenger experience.

In a press release, the institution highlighted that, as part of this celebration, the Santo Domingo Metro and Cable Car service will be free throughout the day, allowing citizens to experience this important advance in capacity, efficiency, and comfort of the mass transit system.

Likewise, OPRET explained that, during the development of the protocol act headed by the first president of the Republic, the service on lines 1 and 2 of the Metro could be partially interrupted between 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon for logistical and security reasons.

OPRET thanks the public for their understanding and reiterates its commitment to the continuous strengthening of the transportation system, for the benefit of all users.
