Washington. - The President of the United States, Donald Trump, accused this Tuesday the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, of not supporting Washington in the war against Iran and stressed that it is not surprising that Germany is doing "so badly", after the German criticized the US strategy in the Middle East.
“The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, believes it is okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. He doesn't know what he's talking about! If Iran had a nuclear weapon, the whole world would be held hostage. I am doing something with Iran right now that other nations or presidents should have done a long time ago,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump, who thus responds to recent criticisms from Merz, insisted that "!with good reason Germany is doing so badly, both economically and in other aspects!"
The leader published his message in the midst of the official visit of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whose Prime Minister he has also attacked for what he sees as a lack of support in the conflict against Iran, and one day after the German chancellor stated that Tehran is "humiliating" the U.S. in the peace negotiations.
"I don't see a clear strategy. In a conflict, you not only have to enter, but you have to enter and you have to know how to get out. What happens when this is not taken into account we saw in Afghanistan, in Iraq and now in Iran," said the head of the German government on Monday during an event in the west of the country.
