Editorial.- The International No Dieting Day, is celebrated on May 6th of each year. It is a commemorative date to raise awareness about the physical harm that people who are exposed to strict dietary regimens face, which can even lead to death.

The origin of this important date was thanks to the British feminist Mary Evans Young, who in 1992 decided to undertake a fight against the companies and industries in charge of promoting the consumption of dietary products.

Likewise, she became the main spokesperson for eating disorders that affect people around the world, such as bulimia and anorexia. Because of this, many feminist groups from various countries joined the cause and from that moment it has become an important celebration worldwide.

Unfortunately, today's society operates with beauty standards that women and men have to struggle with every day to, in a way, fit into them. For this reason, it is important for people to understand the importance of taking care of their physical appearance, but without falling into negative behaviors that can affect their health, such as, for example, undergoing rigorous diets, which in the long run can harm their health.

In this sense, International No Diet Day seeks to break with these stereotypes and its goals include:

Create awareness among the population to eliminate discrimination against people who are overweight.

Eradicate beauty standards or stereotypes.
