Washington.- The U.S. President, Donald Trump, stated early this Thursday that the shooting hours earlier of two members of the Israeli embassy in the U.S., when they were outside an event in Washington DC, was "obviously" the result of "antisemitism."

"These horrific DC murders, obviously based on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hate and radicalism have no place in the US. My condolences to the victims' families. It's so sad that things like this can happen. God bless you ALL!" Trump posted on his Truth Social account.

The two deceased were outside the Jewish Museum of the Capital, where an event of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), was being held when they were shot. The Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI continue to investigate the incident.

The police, which recommends avoiding the area around the premises, reported that they are already working to clarify this event, which occurred in front of the local FBI office in Washington, and that they are coordinating with the Israeli embassy.

"Two employees of the Israeli embassy were senselessly murdered tonight near the Jewish Museum of Washington DC (...) We are actively investigating and working to obtain more information to share with you," stated the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, in a post on X.

According to US media, an armed man shouted "Free Palestine" while being arrested in front of the aforementioned museum and one of the victims was initially taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

AJC CEO Ted Deutch confirmed that his committee had organized this event, which was intended to bring together Jewish professionals aged 22-45 with Washington's diplomatic community.
