Army captain who died after collapse at Jet Set nightclub will be buried this Monday

Villa Tapia, Hermanas Mirabal. — This Monday, the remains of the captain of the Dominican Republic Army, Alba María Altagracia Montero Rojas, will be buried, who died after spending 46 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital Ney Arias Lora, becoming the 236th victim of the tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set nightclub.

The officer attended the event accompanied by several members of her family, including her husband, Captain Randy Montero Rodríguez Cepeda; her mother-in-law Zeneida Altagracia Cepeda Hernández; her brother-in-law Aneury Alexander Viñas Rodríguez; her aunt-in-law Licelot Elizabeth Cepeda Hernández, and the latter's daughter, Génesis Lisbeth León Cepeda, all of whom also lost their lives in the accident.

Her parents, Emiliano Montero and Carmen Marixa Rojas, expressed the deep sorrow that overwhelms them for the loss of their daughter, but also expressed their gratitude to the medical staff of Ney Arias Lora for the efforts made during the prolonged hospitalization process.

Alba Montero was a military officer and a pioneer in her institution. Throughout her career, she became the first woman in the Army to direct a penitentiary, a responsibility she assumed at the age of 29, when she held the rank of first lieutenant.

The funeral services are held in his native Villa Tapia, where family, friends, and comrades-in-arms gather to bid him farewell.
