Abinader responds to Haitian government: "Stop blaming others and face your crisis"

Santo Domingo.- The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, firmly responded to the recent statements made by the Minister of Defense of Haiti, Jean Michel Moïse, who accused the Dominican Republic of contributing to the deterioration of security in Haiti.

During LA Semanal, Abinader described these claims as attempts to divert attention from the serious internal problems facing the neighboring country, and urged the Haitian government to stop “blaming others.”

“They do not pose a danger to the region and they are already setting up offices in Cap-Haïtien, just in case they have any difficulties. They have to stop blaming other countries and face their problem, let them stop blaming other countries and solve their problems,” Abinader expressed.

The leader emphasized that Haiti faces a significant security crisis, with regions controlled by gangs and a collapsed institutional framework.

“We, who are trying to draw attention to the problems it has, isn't there a problem in Haiti? Isn't there a security problem in Haiti?”, he questioned.

Abinader also highlighted his government's efforts to maintain security on the border and protect Dominican citizens.

“I am responsible for the safety of Dominicans and we will continue to take appropriate measures. The international community and they have to thank us, we have been putting pressure,” he stated. The president urged Haitian authorities to present concrete evidence if they have specific accusations.

“They have to present evidence, and if evidence is presented, we will act,” he concluded.
