Luis Suárez and Leo Messi found Deportivo LSM, a team that will compete in Uruguay

Montevideo (EFE).- Inter Miami players and former Barcelona teammates Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi announced on Tuesday the birth of Deportivo LSM, a team that will compete in Uruguayan football.

The news was announced in a video in which the Celeste's all-time leading scorer spoke about the importance of the project for his family and then reported that the world champion with the Argentine national team will also be part.

"We've experienced many things together since we were kids, we've shared countless experiences in the elite of football, and that's why today I'd like to introduce a friend, a teammate who, as I said, we have many things in common because of our beginnings," Suárez said. And he added: "This project is the perfect place to continue sharing our vision of football and have the same vision as our beginnings, so I invited my friend to join the professional project of Deportivo LSM."

Immediately afterwards, the captain of the Argentine national team thanked Suárez for the opportunity to join a project he had been working on for years and that had grown a lot.

"Being able to be a part of this with you is a source of pride for me. It's a joy that you've invited me. I hope to contribute everything I can to keep growing," said the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. Suárez, meanwhile, emphasized that both he and his family strongly believe in the project and added that achieving this was "a dream" that is slowly becoming a reality.

"This is a family dream that began in 2018. We have grown a lot, with more than 3,000 partners, infrastructures both in the complex and in the sports city that provides our partners with many activities. There is a wide range for children and adolescents," he detailed.

Finally, he explained that he wants to compete in "the world" of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) at both youth and professional levels and that he will work to grow.

In March 2022, the forward with a past at Nacional and Atlético de Madrid inaugurated the new works carried out at the Suárez Complex, a sports center he owns in Ciudad de la Costa, in the department of Canelones (south of Uruguay), about 20 kilometers from Montevideo.
