Santo Domingo.- With the purpose of fostering a culture of accountability from an early age, the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD), through its Social Control Department, celebrated the investiture of 617 students who participated in the educational program Yo Rindo Cuentas.

Nowadays, many of those who manage or have managed public resources, when accounting, instead of returning what is missing, justify the absent funds. But the right thing to do is to act as the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte did,” expressed Vice President Tamárez Florentino, who represented the president of the Chamber of Accounts, Emma Polanco, during the ceremony.

The official encouraged the young people to continue investigating and training, since knowledge will be their main tool to occupy, in the future, the leadership spaces that the nation demands.

Ustedes son los futuros dirigentes de la República Dominicana”, afirmó Tamarez.

For her part, Griselda Gómez Santana advised students to strengthen their knowledge from basic education and high school about citizen accountability. "All citizens pay taxes; those taxes go to the State and are used as income by the public sector. But, how do those taxes return to the citizenry? Through quality public services," she explained.

He added that education, transportation, energy, and water are essential services to ensure a good quality of life, and that the correct use of public funds translates into tangible benefits for the population.

The educational centers that participated in this edition of the program were: Liceo Fe y Alegría Marcos Castañer (Madre Vieja, San Cristóbal), Politécnico San Felipe Meris (Pizarrete, Baní), Politécnico Espíritu Santo (Matanzas, Baní), Politécnico José María Velaz (Los Mameyes, SDE) and the Centro Educativo Gregorio Hernández (SDE).
