OMSA integrates into the Santiago Transportation System with 39 buses and a single fare of RD$35

Santiago. – The Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) took a historic step by formally integrating into the Santiago Integrated Transportation System (SIT) with a new fleet of 23 modern buses, which are added to the 16 already existing, totaling 39 units that will cover 162 kilometers on strategic routes of the city.

This advance is part of an interconnected transportation scheme that includes the Santiago cable car and, soon, the monorail. Passengers will be able to use both OMSA buses and the cable car with a single payment of RD$35.00, under the integrated fare model, allowing them to make up to two transfers within a 90-minute period.

The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, informed that this integrated fare will also cover future corridors reformed by INTRANT, including the Duarte Corridor, Gurabo, and 27 de Febrero. Paliza highlighted that this network seeks to connect the main avenues of Santiago with efficiency, economy, and security.

Radhamés González, general administrator of OMSA, highlighted that this operation represents the most modern in the country, with buses equipped with GPS, video surveillance connected to 911, and continuous monitoring from the Operations Control Center (CCO). He also emphasized that this is the first formal operation of OMSA as a company, after its creation by presidential decree.

The service will cover the cable car stations, rings A and B towards Canabacoa and Hato del Yaque, and will be available from Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays until 10:00 p.m. Users can consult routes and recharge their mobility card through the website https://sitdominicana.com, through a WhatsApp chatbot and a network of ATMs at cable car stations.
