Abinader to the opposition: "Go discuss with the FAO or Moody's, we'll arrange the meeting for you but we won't pay for your travel."

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader responded this Monday to the criticisms made by opposition sectors, particularly from former president Leonel Fernández, about the country's economic performance, assuring that the government's positive indicators are endorsed by international organizations.

During his meeting with the press, "La Semanal", Abinader stated that the arguments made by his opponents should be discussed with entities such as the FAO or Moody's, which have positively valued the government's economic and social policies. "That's why I often tell the opposition friends, when they say they don't agree: go to the FAO in Italy, go to New York and discuss with Moody's. We'll arrange the meeting for you, but we won't pay for your ticket," the president said. The head of state considered it normal for the opposition to issue criticism, but insisted that the country's growth is documented. He acknowledged that, although economic growth has been below the estimated, it has not stopped.

"I myself said that growth was below the estimate, it's not that we are not growing, it's that we want to grow more," he affirmed.

These statements come after former President Leonel Fernández indicated that the country is experiencing an economic slowdown and that, under those conditions, the Fuerza del Pueblo would win the next presidential elections.
