Chicken, rentals, and street food recorded the largest price increase last month

Fresh chicken, yucca, green bananas, sobado bread, salami, are among the foods that registered a greater increase in the month of July 2025, contributing to the fact that the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages category registered an increase of 0.47% in relation to June.

The Central Bank, in its monthly report on the Consumer Price Index, highlighted that the increase in the price of fresh chicken, a food item with the most relative participation in this group, is due to the combined effects of high temperatures and the incidence of the rainy season typical of this time of year, factors that seasonally affect the productivity of this item.

Likewise, the report specifies that some foods such as garlic, avocados, sour lemons, soybean oil, oranges and onions, among others, showed price decreases, partially mitigating the inflation of this group as a whole.

In the Housing line, a variation of 0.74% more is established in July compared to June, due to the increases in liquefied gas for domestic use and housing rental services.

While in the Transportation group inflation was 0.24%, due to adjustments in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas for vehicles (LPG) and diesel, as well as in automobiles and in the fares of transportation services in motoconchos and public cars.

Regarding the Restaurants and Hotels line, the monetary entity explains that it presented an inflation of 0.43% as a result of price increases in prepared food services outside the home.

In general, the consumer price index (CPI) registered a monthly variation of 0.38% in July 2025, placing the year-on-year inflation for that month at 3.40%.

While comparing July's inflation (3.40%) with June's 3.56%, a decrease of 0.16 percentage points is observed.
