Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported this Tuesday that two men identified as alleged responsible for the death of the taxi driver Alfred Joel Fernández, 33 years old, were killed in a confrontation with agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) in the community La Estancia, municipality Las Matas de Farfán, province San Juan.
During the operation, carried out in coordination with the Public Ministry, a woman linked to the case, identified as Clara Inés Sánchez, 32 years old, was also arrested. The detainee was located in a house on 19 de Marzo street, from where the deceased had fled on a motorcycle.

The deceased were identified as Julio José Vargas Díaz, alias “Ñacoña” or “Bulin”, and Juan Manuel Lantigua Veras, alias “Salcochao”. According to the Police, both were carrying illegal pistols and fired at the agents, which provoked the lethal response. Authorities indicated that both those killed and the arrested person had arrest warrants for alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of the taxi driver, whose body was found on March 3 in the community of La Soledad, Espaillat province, after being reported missing on January 22. Regarding the case, the Police recalled that on the same day the body was found, Oscar José Ureña, alias "Boca," was arrested. The institution assured that investigations are ongoing and that they will offer more details as the process progresses.
