CONANI regrets the death of a 7-year-old girl and clarifies that it did not receive the report of the case

In 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, the institution assisted 1,822 cases of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations. Santo Domingo.– The National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI) expressed this Monday its deep sorrow for the death of a 7-year-old girl, victim of alleged physical abuse in the Los Guandules sector and clarified that, after an exhaustive review, the alert of this case was not made to the institution, in any of its official communication channels. The organization recalled that upon receiving a complaint, its protocol establishes the immediate conduct of investigations and notification to the Public Prosecutor's Office, without the need for initial evidence. Complaints can be made through the Life Line of the Attorney General's Office (809-200-1202), the 911 emergency system, the institution's regional and municipal offices, and its digital channels.

CONANI highlighted that it acts as the governing body of the National Protection System and executes the measures dictated by the Public Ministry and the specialized courts.

“La protección efectiva requiere del esfuerzo conjunto de las instituciones, la ciudadanía y los medios de comunicación. Exhortamos a la población a no callar ante la sospecha o evidencia de abusos y a denunciar de inmediato”,

apuntó la institución en un comunicado.
Finally, CONANI assured that this case, which "hurts deeply", calls for strengthening the joint work between all entities of the National Protection System, families, and communities, in favor of children and adolescents.
