The Transportation Cabinet, through the "RD SE MUEVE" Plan, coordinates actions to improve the mobility of vehicles in the vicinity of more than 20 educational centers in the National District, on the occasion of the start of the school year next Monday, the 25th.

The measures consist of: Recommended circulation patterns for parents, channeling of lanes with cones for dropping off and picking up students, staggered departure times by grade level, promotion of the use of shared vehicles or private collective transport, the assistance of traffic agents and The Mayor's Office of the National District complements with the signage of school zones.

Among the schools identified as critical are, among others, Quisqueya school, Loyola, Claret, Preescolar Montessori, Calasanz, Movearte, Luis Muñoz Rivera School, Babeque Secondary School, Lux Mundi School, King Christian School and Saint George School.

These centers impact traffic on the following road corridors: Av. J. F. Kennedy, Av. 27 de Febrero, Av. Gustavo Mejía Ricart, Av. Tiradentes, Av. Independencia, Av. Teodoro Chassereau (Private), Av. Mirador Sur, Av. Roberto Pastoriza, C/ Camino Chiquito, among others.

DIGESETT will have personnel assisting these measures in more than 35 intersections located near the educational environments of the 23 aforementioned schools.

These actions were presented during a meeting of the Transportation Cabinet, headed by its coordinator, engineer Deligne Ascención with representatives of the entities that make up this organization, such as engineers Milton Morrison, director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), Alexandra Cedeño, director of sustainable mobility, Oneximo González, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA), General Pascual Cruz Méndez of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT), as well as the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, the National District Council (ADN), and the Association of Private Schools.

The cabinet coordinator, Eng. Deligne Ascensión, urged private schools to implement mass transportation for students, which would greatly contribute to traffic mobility, as well as reduce pressure on parents who have to take their children to school and then go to their respective workplaces.

The plan "RD SE MUEVE" is an initiative of the Dominican government aimed at transforming urban mobility in Santo Domingo and throughout the country. It is comprised of the Ministry of the Presidency (MINPRE), the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT), the Office for the Reordering of Transportation (OPRET), and the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA).
