The OEI and Integratel will promote access to literary content in digital channels in Peru

Lima, Peru.- The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and Integratel Peru (formerly Movistar) signed an agreement this Monday with the aim of promoting free access to literary content and fostering inclusive and accessible reading habits throughout the country. The signing of this alliance took place at the San Juan Macías school, in the Lima district of San Luis, with the participation of the Secretary General of the OEI, Mariano Jabonero; the Minister of Education of Peru, Morgan Quero; and the Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of Integral Peru, María Isabel León. This agreement will allow reading recommendations and free books to be brought closer to the daily lives of thousands of Peruvians through the digital platforms of Movistar and OEI, with the aim of closing educational and cultural gaps. It will also seek to "bring connectivity to rural and sensitive areas," as explained by María Isabel León. With the deployment in technology and communication as its "business objective", the Integratel representative assured that her company will be in charge of "putting access to texts previously curated and selected by the OEI at the fingertips of all students", ensuring internet access so that children "have all the baggage they need". Jabonero pointed out that, "when education is shared, it is gained," and stated that the objective of the project is based on "seeking 'real' results through technology. "It's an example of what we do and our work logic, sharing content and experiences," expressed the Secretary General of the OEI. For his part, Quero recalled similar initiatives by the Peruvian Government such as 'Reading in motion: connect your reading signal' which brings literature closer to the community through digital content, recommendations and free material disseminated through connectivity, in this case, Integratel Peru.

"We see that reading is alive, it's there, in our regions and it reinvents itself," the minister indicated, and praised the work that this program does with up to 850,000 children in the country, from public and private schools, a symbiosis that also highlighted the collaboration of both sectors when presenting educational projects. "We are innovating with you and for you a new educational model," assured Quero, who highlighted the openings of new bicentennial schools in the country. Meanwhile, the principal of the school where the event was held, Rosa María Ronceros, defended that technology and connectivity can be put at the service of learning.” Within the framework of the meeting, Integratel Peru and the OEI also signed the Social Pact for Education promoted by the Ministry of Education, through which both institutions commit to contribute to the construction of an inclusive, equitable and quality education system that responds to the challenges of the present and future of the country.
