Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader ignited the national political debate with statements made at the
LA Semanal meeting with the press, regarding the authorship and execution of various infrastructure projects in the country.
In a previous meeting, former President Danilo Medina stated that, in terms of works, the Dominican Liberation Party far surpasses the current government and expressed:
"The presidents in office are not left in shame."
Abinader responded by pointing out that "It was them who started the discussion about works. The PLD has no comparison with any of the social or economic indicators achieved in these five years of government, despite the fact that they governed for 20 years."
During the appearance, the president showed on screen an audiovisual with Medina's statements about the school built in the community of Bohechío in San Juan, and clarified:
“I built that school. There was no center there. I think Medina was not well informed”.
He also clarified that the Instituto Superior de Agricultura (ISA) in that San Juan community was built during his government. "We gave the first pick and also inaugurated it," he said.
Regarding road works:
The Head of State assured that in Barahona there is no bypass as Medina pointed out, and that the only thing executed was 2.3 kilometers of an avenue that connects the UASD with the malecón.
"In 20 years of government, the only work he did in Santiago was the 19 kilometers of the bypass, but they didn't finish the Ulises Francisco Espaillat bridge and we completed it," Abinader replied.
He pointed out the bypasses that are under construction, including those of San Francisco de Macorís, Navarrete, Verón, Moca, La Otra Banda in Higüey, and the Malecón of Nagua.
