The unstoppable hit came in the sixth episode and was key to igniting the Padres' offensive reaction, who after losing 3-1, manufactured 11 runs between the sixth and eighth innings to seal the victory. Machado also hit a productive single in the seventh inning that gave the definitive lead.
San Diego's offensive was backed by the great performance of Elías Díaz, who hit two home runs, including a two-run homer in an explosive seventh inning of seven runs. Ramón Laureano also contributed a two-run homer in the eighth inning to extend the lead. The attack began after a defensive error by Brooks Lee, which opened the door for the Padres to punish Minnesota's bullpen. Fernando Tatis Jr., Luis Arráez, Ryan O’Hearn, and Jake Cronenworth joined the offensive party with timely hits, while Cronenworth drove in two more with a double. With this triumph, the Padres demonstrated patience and power at the plate, connecting 13 hits to stay in the fight within the National League.
