Collado warns: Sosúa will not tolerate sexual exploitation of minors

Sosúa. – During the inauguration of several paved streets in the Valedor community, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, sent a forceful message against child sexual abuse and the exploitation of minors in tourist areas such as Sosúa.

"I want to say it publicly and clearly: tourists who come to sexually abuse children or adolescents, go somewhere else. Sosúa and the Dominican Republic are not and will never be for that type of tourism," the official warned.

Collado assured that his management is committed to sustainable, dignified tourism that benefits communities, not practices that harm Dominican children. "Tourism is not just hotels and cruises, it is the country's main industry and must be developed responsibly, with order and respect. Our vision is clear: to support the workers, artisans and families who depend on tourism, without allowing the image of the destination to be damaged," he added.

The minister recalled that in Sosúa concrete measures have been taken to organize the beaches, dignify the vendors who have worked on them for decades, and create safer conditions for residents and visitors. "We are turning vendors into entrepreneurs, giving them opportunities with clear rules, regulations, and organization. That is sustainable tourism," he said.

With these statements, Collado exposed the government's firm position in defense of children and a tourism model that projects the country with values of integrity, security, and community development.
