Sanz Lovatón highlights exports surpass US$6.881 million in the first months of 2025

The Director General of Customs, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, highlighted that in the first months of 2025, Dominican exports exceed US$6,881.57 million.

He highlighted that in 2024, over US$13 billion was exported to 160 destinations, showing that exports and logistics are the main generator of foreign currency for the Dominican Republic.

During his participation as the keynote speaker at the lunch-conference “Modern Customs: Safe Trade in a Globalized World”, organized by the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo), the official highlighted that the DGA continues to advance in its transformation and modernization, and that they have made 700 technological system changes to improve facilitation, increase controls and collections.

As of today, 78 services were automated on the platform to streamline customs processes, using the "DGA RD" APP as an example, with which users do not have to go to Customs offices to deposit paperwork.

Also, there are twelve automated export services, such as exporter registration for individuals or legal entities, registration of export products, exporter certification, among others.

The president of ADOEXPO, Karel Castillo, valued the progress made by the General Customs Directorate under the management of Sanz Lovatón, highlighting the 24-Hour Clearance, the Single Window for Foreign Trade, the digitalization of processes, the strengthening of security in foreign trade operations, among others.

"The leadership of Customs has turned this institution into a true facilitator of trade. The challenge now is to maintain the speed of change, because in foreign trade, stopping is equivalent to going backwards," Castillo pointed out.
