Minister of the Presidency announces expansion of the 911 System in Pedernales during the delivery of 46 new ambulances to the DAEH

Santo Domingo. - The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, announced the expansion of the National Emergency and Security System 911 to the province of Pedernales, during the delivery of 46 new ambulances to the Directorate of Emergency Extrahospitalary Care Services (DAEH) by 911, with the aim of expanding and modernizing the fleet destined for pre-hospital care throughout the country. Of these units, of the total ambulances delivered, basic, advanced and 4x4 ambulances were included, which can reach areas of difficult access and in adverse weather events. The event was led by the Minister of the Presidency and President of the National Council of 911, José Ignacio Paliza; the Executive Director of the 911 System, Colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez, ERD; and the director of the DAEH, retired Major General Juan Manuel Méndez García, ERD. Minister Paliza stated: “By the end of this year, the National Emergency and Security Attention System 911 will have renewed more than half of the ambulance fleet of the Dominican Republic, with an investment that exceeds two billion pesos in equipment, also incorporating new fire units and expanding the service to the province of Pedernales.” "Saving a life deserves all effort. Saving lives deserves all illusion, all passion and all work. We thank every Dominican man and woman who is part of the 911 support units, as well as those who with their vision, support and comments help us to be better, because saving a life deserves all the time and all the dedication of those of us who have decided to serve the homeland," Paliza underlined.

On the other hand, the director of the 911 System, Rijo Gómez, indicated that "with this delivery, we take another step in the consolidation of a modern, efficient, and close emergency system to the citizenry. A system that does not rest, that works 24 hours a day and reflects the commitment of a government that believes in the dignity and protection of its people".

Ambulances are equipped with modern medical equipment, including a complete medicinal oxygen system, ventilators (advanced units), a biphasic defibrillator monitor with transcutaneous pacemaker and multiparameter monitoring, digital pulse oximeter, portable glucometer, electric and manual suction equipment, Kendrick-type immobilization vests, bleeding control kits with tourniquets, nebulizers for adults and children, as well as color-coded life support backpacks (red, yellow, green, and blue). They also have main and folding stretchers, portable wheelchairs, splints, cervical collars, and specialized equipment for the care of patients in critical condition. The director of the DAEH, Juan Manuel Méndez García, stated: "Today, the Directorate of Extrahospital Emergency Care Services reaches the record figure of six hundred and three ambulances, thanks to the delivery of forty-six new units arranged by President Luis Abinader and Minister José Ignacio Paliza, thus strengthening our sacred mission to save lives." In the activity, the deputy director of 911, pilot colonel, Harold Jiménez Polanco, ERD, as well as authorities and representatives of the Ministry of the Presidency and the DAEH also participated.
