Azua.- A young man suffered a broken foot and other injuries after crashing while trying to escape from members of the Department of Crime Investigations (DICRIM), in an incident that occurred on Sánchez Highway.
The injured person was identified as Marcos Antonio Ureña Fernández, 25 years old, who was being pursued by the authorities after being accused of the alleged theft of a motorcycle in the Los Frailes sector, Santo Domingo East.
According to reports, the vehicle owner managed to track it using a global positioning system (GPS), which allowed them to report it to the authorities. After intelligence work, DICRIM agents located the motorcycle in Azua and attempted to apprehend the suspect.

However, upon noticing the police presence, Ureña Fernández would have disobeyed the order to stop and tried to flee, losing control of the motorcycle and causing the accident that caused the fracture. The detainee was transferred under custody to Taiwan Regional Hospital, where he remains receiving medical attention. Once stabilized, he will be brought before the court to answer for the charges against him.
