Supreme Court sends former minister Ábalos and Koldo García to trial and keeps them in prison

Supreme Court magistrate Leopoldo Puente has agreed to open a trial against former minister José Luis Ábalos, his former advisor Koldo García – who will remain in pre-trial detention – and against businessman Víctor de Aldama for alleged irregular commissions in mask contracts.

Crimes

Puente has issued an order in which he sends them to trial for the crimes of integration into a criminal organization; continued bribery, active and passive; use of privileged information, exploitation of privileged information; influence peddling, embezzlement of public funds; falsification of official documents and malfeasance.

In addition, it imposes a bail of 60,000 euros to secure the pecuniary responsibilities that may be imposed on them and warns that, if they do not present it within five days, assets will be seized in sufficient quantity to secure said sum.
