User complaints arriving in the country from different destinations flood any publication by users on social networks related to the services received by passengers at the Las Américas International Airport José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), in the season of greatest flow of travelers by air, such as Christmas. Recently, the communicator, former official and political leader, Janet Camilo, recounted the hardships and poor quality of service she received upon arrival from Madrid. Camilo complained about the condition of the belt that transports the suitcases, the general deterioration of the terminal, the hygiene and even the return of "hustlers" in the departure area. "Nowhere in the world does anyone touch your luggage, the hustlers are back," Camilo pointed out.

This comment is endorsed by hundreds of users on social media who received similar impressions at the terminal.

Regarding this situation, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, had recently spoken out, indicating that at the Las Américas International Airport, the necessary investments are not being made to bring it up to the level of other airport terminals in the country.

He cited other airports in the country as examples, such as Punta Cana and Santiago, which are progressing well. To those statements, the company AERODOM responded that: "more than 30 million dollars have already been invested —with the support of VINCI Airports and the collaboration of the Airport Commission and the Airport Department— in projects that include the remodeling of Departures and Arrivals, renovation of roofs and facades, updating of lighting, air conditioning, information systems and the expansion of the parking lot".
