Giants explode with eight runs in the eighth and win the particular series against the Bulls

San Francisco de Macorís.— With an explosive offensive of eight runs in the eighth inning, the Gigantes del Cibao defeated 8-1 the Toros del Este this Tuesday in the first game of the double header, in the continuation of the tournament of the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM), dedicated to Juan Marichal and in option to the Copa Banreservas.

The Colts sealed the victory thanks to doubles by Gary Sánchez, Nomar Mazara and Marco Hernández, who broke the tie and set the definitive course of the match. With the victory, the Giants improved their record to 18-25, raised their home record to 12-10, snapped a streak of five consecutive wins by the Bulls, and secured the head-to-head series against the Romanenses with a 6-2 advantage. The victory went to right-handed pitcher Justin Courtney (2-2), who pitched 7.1 innings with just two hits and one earned run, with one walk and five strikeouts, facing 24 batters.
The loss fell on Steven Moyer (2-3), who worked five innings, allowed two hits and one earned run, struck out four and gave up a home run.

Offensive Action

For the Toros del Este, Eloy Jiménez batted 3-2, while Yairo Muñoz went 3-1, with a home run, a run scored and one RBI. By the Gigantes del Cibao, Gary Sánchez finished 1-1, with a double and two RBIs; Pablo Reyes went 4-1; and Luis García Jr. went 4-1, with a run scored and two RBIs. Also stood out Nomar Mazara, of 4-1 with a double and a run scored; Samad Taylor, of 1-1 with two runs scored and one RBI; and Marco Hernández, of 3-1, with a double, one RBI and a walk. In addition, Deyvison De los Santos hit 3-1; Julio Carreras scored a run; and Kelvin Gutiérrez added a run and a walk.
