Marte, stellar infielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks and three-time All-Star, has been linked to several teams this offseason. Although the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox have emerged as recurring destinations in the rumors, Seattle now appears as a serious contender, especially after the departure of the also Dominican Jorge Polanco, who signed as a free agent with the New York Mets. According to Kramer, the Mariners' interest grew once it became clear that Arizona, despite its intentions to compete in 2026, would be willing to listen to offers for Marte. However, the main obstacle to finalizing the negotiation has been the "high price demanded by the Diamondbacks". Arizona would be requesting a proven Major League starting pitcher as the main piece of the trade, a condition that Seattle's management is not willing to meet. Both the president of baseball operations, Jerry Dipoto, and general manager Justin Hollander, have reiterated that they will not trade established arms from their rotation. Additionally, according to the report, the Diamondbacks are not particularly attracted to the advanced pitching prospects that the Mariners possess, which has cooled the conversations so far. Despite the difficulties, Ketel Marte's name continues to be one of the most attractive in the winter market and his situation will continue to generate expectations as the offseason progresses.
